Magnesium cosmetics for skin: when to use magnesium spray and body cream with magnesium salts?

June 20, 2026

In this article, we will discuss when to use magnesium spray for the skin, when it is better to choose a body cream with magnesium salts, how to combine these two products, and why magnesium spray might cause a tingling sensation.

Magnesium products for the skin – what are they?

These are cosmetic products with magnesium chloride and Epsom salt, sprayed or applied to the skin and then gently massaged in. They are not dietary supplements or medications. Such products are intended for daily skin care or massage.

Why is magnesium used in cosmetics?

Magnesium salts have been used for many years in bath and foot bath rituals. Many people choose them after an active day, sports, or sauna as part of their relaxation and body care routine.

ALAUSHU® Magnesium Line

These are cosmetic products with magnesium chloride and Epsom salt, sprayed or applied to the skin and then gently massaged in. They are not dietary supplements or medications. Such products are intended for daily skin care or massage.

The ALAUSHU® magnesium line includes two cosmetic products:

  • magnesium spray for skin – a highly concentrated product with magnesium chloride and Epsom salts;
  • body cream with magnesium salts – a less concentrated magnesium salt product, a easily absorbed, non-sticky cream with magnesium chloride, Epsom salt, hydrating glycerin, urea, panthenol, vegetable oils, and extracts.

When to use magnesium products for the skin?

You will enjoy magnesium products after intense workouts, a sauna, or in the evening before bed. After a shower is one of the most convenient times to use magnesium products for the skin. The skin is already clean, dry, and body care products are easily spread and massaged in.

Magnesium spray and body cream: how to use them?

ALAUSHU® magnesium spray for skin and body cream with magnesium salts are not substitutes for each other – these products complement each other.

Magnesium spray

Magnesium spray is a highly concentrated product with magnesium chloride and Epsom salt. This product is used as a first step on clean, dry skin after a shower. Due to the high concentration of magnesium salts, a tingling sensation, warmth, or slight tightness may be felt on the skin – especially if the skin is drier or more sensitive.

Body cream with magnesium salts

Body cream with magnesium salts is designed to make the magnesium ritual more comfortable. It is not an ordinary body cream, but a rich-textured formula with magnesium chloride, Epsom salt, glycerin, urea, panthenol, coconut, olive, and avocado oils, shea butter, and plant extracts (lemon balm, cucumber, chamomile, calendula, rosemary). The cream helps to give the skin a softer and more comfortable feeling after magnesium spray, but is also perfect as a daily body care cream.

These products work together

Many people combine these products:

  1. Shower or rinse your skin after a sauna.
  2. Spray magnesium 2-4 times on clean, dry, and less sensitive skin, such as feet, hands, or calves, and gently massage in.
  3. Do not wait for the magnesium spray to dry and treat your skin with body cream with magnesium salts.
  4. Normally, we recommend not rinsing, but if you feel uncomfortable, rinse immediately or after 20 minutes.

If you choose not to apply body cream, spray magnesium on the skin and let it dry. You can leave it on the skin or rinse after 20 minutes. If the sensation is unpleasant – rinse immediately.

Magnesium spray treats you with magnesium salts, and the cream nourishes your skin and protects against a feeling of tightness or dryness.

In brief

  • Magnesium spray – the main and more concentrated product.
  • Body cream with magnesium salts – a gentler product that complements the magnesium spray routine.
  • Used together – when you want more comfort, hydration, and a more pleasant skin sensation.

Why might magnesium spray tingle?

Magnesium spray can cause a tingling, warm, slightly stinging, or tightening sensation. This is a fairly common sensation when using concentrated products with magnesium salts.

Tingling is more often felt if:

  • the skin is dry;
  • the skin is more sensitive;
  • the product is used after shaving;
  • the skin has just been exfoliated;
  • the product is sprayed on sensitive body areas.

Therefore, initially, we recommend using magnesium spray on less sensitive areas: feet, calves, or hands. Avoid irritated, damaged, or freshly shaven skin.

If the sensation is unpleasant, you can rinse the product with water. Next time, use a smaller amount or choose a body cream with magnesium salts (you can mix body cream with magnesium salts with magnesium spray to enhance the concentration of salts in the body cream).

How to reduce the tingling sensation?

If the magnesium spray feels too intense on the skin, immediately apply body cream before the magnesium spray absorbs, or mix body cream and magnesium spray in your palm before spraying.

Most common mistakes when using magnesium products for the skin

Spraying on freshly shaven or irritated skin

Magnesium products should not be used on damaged, irritated, or very sensitive skin areas. After shaving, the skin can be more sensitive, so magnesium spray might sting more. In such a case, it is better to wait or choose body cream with magnesium salts.

Magnesium spray used without additional skin care

Magnesium spray can feel more intense, especially on drier or more sensitive skin. For some people, it may cause a feeling of tightness or dryness, so we recommend using body cream with magnesium salts after a few minutes.

We created ALAUSHU® body cream as a gentler finish to the magnesium ritual. Its composition includes skin-comforting ingredients: glycerin, urea, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, panthenol, cucumber extract, chamomile extract, calendula extract, and shea butter. The cream helps to give the skin a softer, more comfortable feeling after magnesium spray, or can be used alone when you want to pamper your skin with care.
